Production and sales of food industry in Germany in a slight growth trend

Update March 13th, 2019 - The main advantage of food production (without beverage) is immediately apparent in the diagram below: a stable, smooth production trend.

We look at the course of the dashed trend line that marks the moving one-year trend. In 2010 this trend already exceeded the pre-crisis level and continued to rise until 2012. Then food production stagnated for four years until a growth trend began in mid-2016.

The current growth trend of food production is 0.5% per year from June 2016 to January 2019.

It is likely that this minor growth trend will continue in 2019. However, the reasons for a sustained growth trend lie outside the food industry in the course of global economic development, which is also examined in the Quest Trend Magazine.

Sales showing again a growth trend since July 2017 at 1.2% p.a.

The red dashed line in the following diagram illustrates the sales trend. This trend is determined as a moving one-year average of the monthly quotations of the sales index of the Federal Statistical Office.

Sales exceeded the pre-crisis level for the first time in July 2011, grew further until July 2014 and then declined again until mid-2017. Since July 2017 there has been a renewed growth trend in sales of 3.0% per year.
