Readers' feedback to former issues

Mr. Schumacher, Moenus Textilmaschinen GmbH, Moenchengladbach

The Trend Magazine is a very informative matter. I would like to express you my compliments. Such approach you won’t find elsewhere. We use the results of the “Trend Inquiry 2003” as well as the article about ProfiNet in order to make a draft decision for our management. We would like to participate in future questionings.

Mr. Friedel, Kapp GmbH, Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik, Coburg

For a meaningful and consistent use of the Internet in the service still many doors are to be opened.  Often the necessary tying up are missing at the end user, the fear of abuse is higher than the hope for attainable benefit.  For simultaneous transfer of picture, language and machine data the present hardware is still too weak.  An all-round urge toward security, performance and spreading of data networks is desirable.

Mr. Zeller, DaimlerChrysler, Stuttgart

The Trend Magazine is what we wish. The remote service is currently one of the important topics at ours. The presentation of the operating system development was just as informative. Altogether the Trend Magazine gives good impetus.

Mr. Hirzle, DaimlerChrysler, Sindelfingen

I think the Trend Magazine is very interesting, my colleagues positively agree. In brief presentation substantial trends are verified with facts. As we are a development department, we are interested in trends like what’s about the use of the bus systems of different suppliers and what are making others. The Trend Magazine is useful in detecting trends timely and comparing with our knowledge. It is one thing to get the opinion from supplier’s point of view, on the other hand it is of interest to get in addition the trends from user’s point of view.

Mr. Jäckel, Klingelnberg GmbH

I enjoy reading the Trend Magazine, there are interesting subjects that are useful to be known.

Mr. Büchner, Koenig & Bauer AG, Würzburg

The Trend Magazine is very interesting therefore I pass it on also to my design engineers. Thus we see too, what runs on the right and left besides us.

Mr. Schropp, Audi AG, Neckarsulm

Very good that such a summary of automation trends is made and based on a larger amount of users. We ourselves believe the trend to high-level language will not be realised fast at ours. In fact we will still set at least as long on Step7, as a new generation of electronics engineers already trained with high-level languages during their education will be getting grown into the maintenance department. Remote service too cannot be implemented with our IT guidelines.

Dr. Skerries, Opel AG, Rüsselsheim

I take regularly a quick look at the Trend Magazine whether I can find interesting topics. Currently we are busy with remote service, the development of Linux is informative too.

Dr. Hernandez, Volkswagen AG, Wolfsburg

I think the Trend Magazine is good. In the last edition I think the articles about the displacement by the PC based control and the development of the operating systems, in particular the growth of Linux, have been informative.

Mr. Habermeier, BMW AG, München

I think the Trend Magazine is good and I read it too.

Mr. Medele, Audi AG, Ingolstadt

There are really interesting topics in the Trend Magazine, in particular in the area of control engineering it is of interest, where the trend is running. The whole is already worth reading.

Mr. Schmelter, Volkswagen AG, Braunschweig

The Trend Magazine has a high information value and offers to that extent a good decision making aid to come together with the right people and companies.

Dr. Chmielnicki, Hüller Hille GmbH. CROSS Hüller

The Quest Trend Magazine gives me impetus and information to some topics, that suit for the business unit. I would be interested to differentiate still more strongly both the general and the abstract requirement of the machine-builder. That is why in the consent with the competition in machinery industry it’s easier to make solutions that are going to fail due to costs in case you are going to make them on your own.

Mr. Obermüller, Krones AG

I think the Quest Trend Magazine is concise and clear. Regarding the own decision it completes at most, because it’s more broadly created. In the determined groups of services I regain our approach. Also we do not transfer our core competence out of the company. We belong to the group of the subsidiarity-type.

Mr. Maser, Krupp Polysius AG

As a plant manufacturer for the basic industry we offer our own process control system to our customers. Therefore we classify ourselves rather like a supplier of control techniques than a manufacturer of serial production, that takes the services up of the control suppliers. The classification of the machine-builders, as it was presented in the Trend Magazine No. 6, acknowledges our judgement. We correspond to the class "autonomy-type".

Mr. Schmidt, Meurer Maschinen GmbH

It’s ok, the Quest Trend Magazine. I recognized myself in the articles. What described probably best of all our approach was presented by the statement of the professional colleague Peter Trutnau of Cyklop.

Mr. Bauernfeind, Ferromatik Milacron Maschinenbau GmbH

I really like to read the Trend Magazine because it's interesting to know how other users set the trends.  Regarding the classification of the demands for service of the machine-builders into 5 groups I was able to assign us clearly. Like others we require just at the beginning services of the control supplier. Thereafter we require services once again with new technology.

Mr. Gerdhenrich, Haver & Boecker

I think the classification of the machine-builders into groups and the related market survey are very interesting.  We ourselves belong to the group, which does not demand services for hard- and software. We make by ourselves as much as possible because we do not want to transfer our know-how to others.

Mr. Fischer, Dürr Systems GmbH

I think the trends to services are informative, in particular the classification of the behaviours of the machine-builders shows, which priority different machine-builders assign to the control engineering.

Mr. Schuon, Liebherr Verzahntechnik GmbH

That the Trend Magazine presents the trends on the base of the developers' view in the machinery industry I look at it positively. I agree too that the small four line poem hasn't got any ads. You can leaf through quickly to find that you are interested in and you do not have to read so much.

Mr. Zündorf, Reifenhäuser GmbH & Co.

I really appreciate the idea of the Trend Magazine. That is why each machine builder considers: do I follow the right way or not? And in addition you'd like to differentiate a bit from your competitors. Therefore it is important to watch the others.

Mr. Fuchs, Homag Maschinensysteme AG

The Trend Magazine is very positive.

Mr. Jurkewitz, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG

The Trend Magazine assists us with the examination of our own strategies or activities, to what extent they are likewise seen by others and it works as a plausibility check for our own activity.

Mr. Ueding, Rieter Ingolstadt Spinnereimaschinenbau AG

I think the approach of the Trend Magazine is good. The combination of machinery industry and automation technology is naturally interesting for us. The Trend Magazine is a good start, it would be fine if it was somewhat more extensive, but on the other hand you have the advantage of quickly reading.

Mr. Vinke, Benteler GmbH & Co.KG

The Trend Magazine is quite informative, you get to know the general trend regarding control techniques, operator displays, visualisation.

Mr. Quero, TRUMPF Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH+Co.KG

The Trend Magazine is useful and compact.

Mr. Hoesel, TRUETZSCHLER GmbH & CO. KG

The Trend Magazine represents for me a very good as well as neutral and independent source of information. The selected topics essentially correspond to the interest areas of an automation expert in the machinery industry. Among other things the fact is very interesting for me that for this range trends and tendencies are also documented. The articles are brief and concise and are supplemented by readily comprehensible graphics.

Mr. Boecker, KHS Maschinen- und Anlagenbau AG

The Trend Magazine is very important, I have already taken much of it, e.g. which PLC is common. I cannot use a manufacturer that is not world-wide available, because we sell to large international companies. There the Trend Magazine is helpful for my decision.

Mr. Loecherer, Dorst Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH

The Trend Magazine is an important decision aid in order to check our position. We are already keen to the next edition.

Mr. Heck, Wera Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & CO. KG

Regarding the NC-discussion and the open platform in issue 4: the discussion was very interesting, we are also concerned with this problem.

Mr. Pede, Saurer-Allma GmbH

Trends are important because we have many suppliers. Therefore it is important to see what the others think.

Mr. Flaig, Herma GmbH & CO.

It’s really important to get the trends by a company-independent and neutral institution, as you are, instead of getting the manufacturers’ information they are the world champion. None of those admits that their market share is only about 10%. The informative rag is very important, because we must stay up-to-date with PC based controls and field bus systems, because our labelling machines work as add-on to the consisting systems at the customer.

Mr. Lamparter, Heinrich Huppmann

I am an interested Trend Magazine reader, because it is very interesting to observe a certain trend and include it into my own considerations.

Mr. Breuer, Schuler Pressen

The Trend Magazine is quite interesting and useful, therefore I also took part for the first time to an inquiry action.
